You can now also leave any questions you may have on the New YouFarm Forum http://www.youfarm.org/forum/

So let me know how you are getting on and happy growing!

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply, I totally understand how you feel, its an awesome feeling when that first little shoot comes out of the ground. Tubs are a great idea, I used some last year on the roof terrace, you just need to remember to water them, especially on hot days like today. The next great moment will be when you actually get to eat one of the little beauties! Thanks again for the reply and good luck with the veg.

All my seeds are doing well and nearly all of them have germinated which is a good sign of good seeds that have been used. Got them in greenhouse waiting to go out, when it warms up a but more.

I gave mine to my kids to sow. They were just the right amount in each pack for them. Carrots and beetroot doing well so far in pots which the kids have responsibility for, lettuce will be sowed in a week or two as already have some others growing. Broccoli just sowed last week and onions in modules to be put out soon.

My seeds are doing really well. My Carrots are slow growers but the lettuce is doing very well. The Carrots are surrounded by onion as it helps to keep some of the small bugs away!! (They don’t like the smell of onion). I was worried as I didn’t know if I should spread my lettuce out but someone told me, “if you grow them close together; just keep trimming the tops off when harvesting”! Will let you know how that works. Does anyone know how deep Beetroot needs to grow! I don’t know if I have to transfer them to a deeper pot!! Is there an ideal depth? TOP TIP….Have managed to keep slugs at bay with crushed old egg shells…IT WORKS A TREAT!!

Every tomato germinated, they are now about 8″ tall, ready to go out at the end of the month.
Onions are in the ground about 6″ tall, and have kept up a fight with weeds which grow faster than I can pull them, but are looking good.
Beetroot just germinating in a raised bed.
All the seeds seem very good quality. Very happy with them.

    Hi Phil

The lettuce seeds you sent me came up really well and are growing on nicely; one or two examples have been eaten almost to nothing, but I can’t work out what ate them! I suspect snails, as they eat everything else in my little garden. Down at the allotment, beetroot is coming up well too so I’ll post some pictures when I get round to it.

    Cheers

My tomato is about 7′ tall and has baby tomatoes forming and lots of flowers. The lettuce also looks great. Where do you want photos sent?
