The lettuce seeds you sent me came up really well and are growing on nicely; one or two examples have been eaten almost to nothing, but I can’t work out what ate them! Onions are in the ground about 6" tall, and have kept up a fight with weeds which grow faster than I can pull them, but are looking good. Beetroot just germinating in a raised bed. My Carrots are slow growers but the lettuce is doing very well. The Carrots are surrounded by onion as it helps to keep some of the small bugs away!! (They don't like the smell of onion). I was worried as I didn't know if I should spread my lettuce out but someone told me, "if you grow them close together; just keep trimming the tops off when harvesting"! Will let you know how that works. Does anyone know how deep Beetroot needs to grow! I don't know if I have to transfer them to a deeper pot!! Is there an ideal depth? They were just the right amount in each pack for them. Carrots and beetroot doing well so far in pots which the kids have responsibility for, lettuce will be sowed in a week or two as already have some others growing.
