I was looking for some guidance on the best conditions for growing peas, and found this really usefull page with everything you need to know, really simply laid out. http://usagardener.com/how_to_grow_vegetables/how_to_grow_peas.php
Am now going to move my peas to the end of the garden to get more sun.
Its great to hear so many of you are having early success with the seeds, if you have any photos please feel free to send them in and I’ll add them on the site.
I am also looking for other people to help contribute to the site and pass on a little bit of their experiences to others. If you are interested please drop me an email and I’ll set you up, its really easy and quite fun.
Well the summer is well and truly on its way, I’m sitting on the roof terrace, music playing sun blazing. I cant help but wonder how everyone is getting on with their seeds? Let me know how you are getting on, any early successes or problems.
You can now also leave any questions you may have on the New YouFarm Forum http://www.youfarm.org/forum/
So let me know how you are getting on and happy growing!
Yep is spring time and thoughts start turning to getting those veg going. I know what your thinking, “should you not have been planting ages ago?” . But a mixture of moving house lack of allotment and general busyness has led to me being slack.
So the local garden centre has come to the rescue and bobs your uncle I have some plants, not from seed but plants non the less.
The plants on the roof garden really suffer from not having enough water, especially on hot sunny days so I built this makeshift giant pot, out of the remains of last years green house (the one that blew away), hopefully this will give them enough water until I move house in a couple of weeks.
When I move I am going to have a garden! oh yes, the time has come at last to show what i can do. I am also still on the merton borough waiting list for allotments, the 3 - 6 month estimate has turned into a year already with not much sign of bearing fruit. So get your vegetables at the ready, its going to be a hot summer, lots of watering required and a bumper crop in the making!

Today is a fantastic day in the free seed project, the seeds are packed, addressed and ready to go, just need to figure out how I get them down to the Post Office. They should start hitting the door mats over the coming weeks or so. Due to the great response I’ve had to close signup for this year. Really looking forward to seeing your plants as they start to grow. Just need some sunshine now!
As part of my continued grand plan to get everyone growing veg, youfarm.org will be giving away free seeds to all in the coming months, YES! Free seeds, on the one small condition you photo them and upload them. Any suggestions on seeds you want to see in the pack, just let me know, cant wait to get these up and running.
Update - The seeds have been ordered and Sheila is busy preparing them, soon they will be ready for dispatch! Wahoo.

My friend Tania sent me these awesome pics of a Spanish veg stall in Barcelona, I noticed when i was out there the huge size of the veg, its insane. Must be the mixture of lots of sun and the huge green houses down on the southcoast. Need to get me some of that!
After a chat with a friend of mine about how I never have enough veg in the house, she suggested getting an organic food delivery, so I bought this online one night and completely forgot about it. Today arrived home with shopping in hand to find a big bag of veg at the flat! It arrived, the vegetable medley.
Digging into the bag i discovered a host of veg, some known, some not so much.
Included in the bag was 2 corn on cob, some potatoes and onions, an aubergine, 3 large tomatoes and what i now know to be a cabbage (was not sure at first), some broccoli, some carrots.
The remarkable thing about this all is the ‘just out of the earth’ feeling it all has, the mud on the spuds and the deranged corns resembling Austin Power’s teeth. What I’m not sure about is whether this is good food that tastes better for me, or if i am buying ugly dirty food? The veg is on the stove now, will keep you posted.
