Growing your own Garlic - A couple of useful tips when growing your own Garlic:
Make sure you plant your garlic cloves at the right time. Either late autumn or late winter. The key is to ensure that the cloves have at least 1 month of root growth below 10 degrees Celsius, which ensures that the bulb divides in to individual cloves.

It really does depend on which region of the country you happen to live in as to when you start to plant things out at the beginning of the year. Scotland and Devon have two very different climates so if you do live in the south, the chances are you can get started a lot earlier in the year than if you live in the far north.

I am fairly new to gardening so I am often looking at ways in which to improve things. Growing vegetables in my back garden means that I don’t get the benefits for learning from the old allotment owners around me. So with lots of reading and adapting my own thoughts I came up with a top tip I would love to share.

In limited garden space it is possible to graft several apple varieties onto one base stock which in time will form the branches of one tree (bearing different varieties of apple fruit) by using whip and tongue grafting.
