A great job for the winter months is double digging. When planting Vegetables in a patch for the first time, double digging will ensure you have the best possible conditions for growth to help you have big and healthy vegetables.
The process is best explained in video. Here are two from you tube which show different soil types and slightly different methods.
If you are doing this on ground not used before, I would suggest digging out all the big roots beforehand, especially if you have brambles. Double Digging is best done on clear earth as shown in the videos.
