Content Provided by Mo from the midlands ( Free Seeds on their way! )

Mo sent these pictures in and I was stunned by the Shark Fin Melons ( Cucurbita Ficifolia  or fig-leaf gourd) grown in the midlands of England.

Grown on a 6 foot high pergola in the wonderful back garden, this plant gave 11 fruits in the harvest, the last of which was presented to Ryton Gardens for Seeds ( weighing in at a mighty 5KG ).

These Shark Fin Melons grow on a vine that can grow from 5 to 15 metres, its fruit is very sweet and is used in confectionary in many countries and its seeds ( which are numerous! are protein rich and used in several dishes also ).

These plants always amaze me when grown from a height that the fruits actually stay on!

We would love to hear if anyone else has been growing on a pergola or frame, and what success you have had?
